Small Group Guided Athens Sightseeing Tour With Temple of Zeus, Acropolis and Agora
On this fascinating walk, guests will spend the morning discovering the high points of classical art and architecture in Athens, and learning about the towering civilization of ancient Greece. In the morning, guests will reach the Temple of Zeus to meet their tour guide. They will enter the ancient temple built to worship Zeus, the king of the Olympians, in 6th century BC. Guests will note the massive Corinthian columns, few of which remain, while their guide shares its hoary history. This will be followed by an in-depth exploration of the Acropolis of Athens, as they pass by Hadrian’s Arch and take the pedestrian walkway to the hilltop where the complex sits. Walking through the old gateway, guests will admire the ancient Greek temples of Parthenon, dedicated to the Goddess Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion, dedicated to Athena Polias, among other ruins. The walk ends at the Agora, the center of the ancient city’s commercial, political and social life.
