Shared Tours: Ischia & Mortella Gardens Tour from Sorrento
On this day trip, guests will explore the island of Ischia with its sunny beaches, traditional villages, and the beautiful Mortella Gardens. In the morning, guests will reach Sorrento pier to meet their guide and begin their tour. They will enjoy an hour-long ferry ride along the Gulf of Naples to Ischia, watching as the island rises from the turquoise sea. At Ischia, guests will take a guided tour of part of the island. They will see charming fishing villages, some of the oldest on the island, with colorful houses and tiny fishing boats. Along the way, they can also enjoy some delicious gelato. At Forio, guests can explore Mortella Gardens at their leisure. Built in the 1950s by an English composer, Sir William Walton, and his wife, the sprawling estate was named “La Mortella” after the wild myrtles of Forio. Guests can admire the landscaped garden with its Mediterranean flora, fountains, and bay views. Later, they will meet their guide again for touring other parts of the island. They can then buy lunch at a traditional trattoria or bistro serving delicious local dishes, such traditional Ischian seafood pasta paired with the local white wine. After a ride past lush vineyards, and fragrant lemon and olive groves, participants will arrive at the Ischia pier in time for the ferry back to Sorrento.
