Shared Tour - Versailles extended tour: Guided tour of Palace of Versailles with gardens and Queen's Hamlet AM
Guests will spend an exciting day discovering the magnificent Chateau de Versailles that once served as the French royal residence. This immersive day-long tour will begin from a centrally located meeting point in Paris, where guests will board their air-conditioned vehicle and travel to Versailles. Upon reaching the UNESCO-listed palace, they will embark on a detailed exploration of the opulent royal residence. At the State Apartments and the Queen’s Grand Apartments, they will view opulent rooms done up in marble and gold, each with their own purpose. Participants will learn how Louis XIV officially installed the court and government of the kingdom at Versailles in 1682. Then, they will walk around the Hall of Mirrors where the historic Treaty of Versailles was signed to end World War I. After the guided tour, guests can stroll around the beautiful French gardens surrounding the palace. Designed by Andre Le Notre, the grounds are dotted with statues crafted by teams of sculptors who were initially supervised by Charles Le Brun, the royal painter. Guests will spend the afternoon exploring the splendid Grand Trianon, built as the king’s private retreat. Made of pink marble and porphyry, the opulent living quarters hosted illustrious occupants such as King Louis XIV and Napoleon Bonaparte. Later, guests will also visit Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet, a whole model village around an artificial lake, where the erstwhile queen hosted intimate gatherings. Afterwards, guests will return to their vehicle for the journey back to Paris.
