Shared Tour: Mont Saint Michel Tour by Motorcoach
Guests will embark on a day-long exploration of the UNESCO-listed Mont-Saint-Michel. The tour will begin early in the morning with a drive across the Normandy region. Along the way, their knowledgeable guide will regale guests with stories and details about the rich history of the region and its varied geography. As they approach Mont-Saint-Michel, guests can take in the breathtaking view of the rocky islet with its impressive Gothic Abbey and the ocean as a backdrop. The guide will tell them about the seawall that links the tidal island to the mainland and how preservation efforts are ongoing to help retain its unique maritime characteristics. Guests will have time to buy themselves lunch on the Mont before enjoying a guided visit to the ancient Benedictine abbey dedicated to the archangel Saint Michael. A famous pilgrimage destination and cultural center in the Middle Ages, it was built by the Duke of Normandy in the 11th century. The tour will wind past the many Gothic buildings within the compound, including the cloister and the monks’ refectory. Afterward, guests will have time to stroll along the steep and narrow alleys and take in splendid views of the bay from various vantage points. They could also visit the small village with its smattering of houses and shops before returning to Paris.
