Shared Tour: Marken, Volendam, & Windmills Bus Tour 8:45AM (All-in)
Your tour begins in the famous Zaanse Schans, where the 18th and 19th centuries come to life along the banks of the Zaan river. Historic windmills and distinctive green wooden houses were relocated here to recreate the look of an old village, making Zaanse Schans one of the best places in Holland to see windmills. This tour even includes entrance and the opportunity to explore inside a working windmill.
Next, travel to the traditional fishing village of Volendam. Stroll down De Dijk, the main thoroughfare, with fishing boats on one side and historic wooden structures on the other. Learn how to make the local cheeses and have a little taste at the Volendam Cheese Factory.
Travel by boat to Marken on a scenic trip across the Ijsselmeer. A visit to a traditional clog, or wooden shoe, maker completes your tour. See how clogs are still made according to a 100-year-old tradition with steam powered tools.
