The island of Delos is about nine miles off the coast of Mykonos, a boat ride of approximately 30 minutes. Enjoy your time on board and bask in the sun, feel the sea breeze and take in the sparkling Aegean blue sea. The site visited today is one of the most impressive in Greece, with an incredible history; the island of Delos! The mythical birthplace of twins Apollo and Artemis, splendid Ancient Delos was a shrine turned sacred treasury and commercial center. Your guide will make this city “come alive”, the remains of the city are so clear that you easily see how the ancients lived and the city thrived. Delos is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the excavations on the island are among the most extensive in the Mediterranean; and it is a site where ongoing work is still taking place. The walk in the ruins of Delos is approximately two hours and some of the highlights are the “Terrace of the Lions” and the “Sacred way”. The entire island of Delos is considered an archaeological site and is truly a unique experience to each visitor. The boat ride back to Mykonos is a perfect opportunity to relax and reflect on the day's adventure.
