Shared Tour: Anne Frank Walking Tour Through the Jewish Quarter 2 PM
This walking tour takes guests around Amsterdam’s historical landmarks associated with Anne Frank and World War II. In the afternoon, guests will make their way to the Old Jewish Quarter to meet their local guide and start walking at a comfortable pace. The first stop is at the 17th-century Portuguese Synagogue that was the largest of its kind at the time of its construction. As they continue walking, the guide will bring history to life with a riveting narrative peppered with significant dates and historical facts. The itinerary includes Hollandsche Schouwburg, a theater building turned temporary accommodation for Jewish people assigned to concentration camps. Visits to the central office of the Jewish Council, and hiding places used by the Dutch resistance to protect Jewish families, are also part of the tour. All along, travelers will gain a deep understanding of life during the German occupation of Holland and learn lesser-known historical facts. The last stop is at the Anne Frank House Museum, located in the building where the Jewish teenager hid out with her family for about two years. Guests who have purchased the museum tickets in advance, can then browse the exhibits at leisure before making their way back to the hotel.
