Shared Tour: Anne Frank Walking Tour Through the Jewish Quarter 10:30 AM
This walking tour will take guests around Amsterdam’s historical landmarks that are associated with Anne Frank and World War II. In the morning, travelers will meet their local guide in the Old Jewish Quarter. Walking at an easy pace, they will accompany their guide to prominent attractions such as the Portuguese Synagogue, which was the biggest synagogue in the 17th century. Along the way, the guide will narrate the history of the city’s Jewish community and the impact of the World War II. The itinerary includes Hollandsche Schouwburg, a former Dutch theater that was used to house thousands of Jewish people before they were sent to concentration camps. Guests will also visit the central office of the Jewish Council and hiding places used by the Dutch resistance to protect Jewish families. They will gain insight into life during the German occupation of Holland through the guide’s riveting narrative peppered with important dates and facts. The last stop is the Anne Frank House Museum, located in the building where the teenager hid out with her family for about two years. Guests who have purchased the museum tickets in advance can then browse the exhibits at leisure before making their way back to the hotel.
