Private Tour: Unesco Jewels: Tivoli and its Villas 9:00 AM
Guests will spend a relaxing day exploring the Renaissance-era residences of Tivoli on this tour. In the morning, they will travel from Rome to Tivoli in a private vehicle, accompanied by a professional guide. Set by the falls of the Aniene river just 27 miles from the Eternal City, Tivoli boasts impressive architecture and monuments. On this tour, guests will discover two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Hadrian’s Villa and Villa d’Este. Built in the 2nd century by Emperor Hadrian, the sprawling namesake villa complex is one of the most impressive villas from Ancient Rome. Participants will have the chance to admire its grand architecture, which includes more than 30 buildings, thermal baths, and expansive pools. The next stop will be at the 16th-century Villa d’Este with its beautifully frescoed interiors. There, guests will discover the charming fountains, cascades, and waterworks in the lush grounds—a marvellous feat of engineering based on gravity. Accompanied by a knowledgeable expert, guests will delve into the history, art, and architecture of bygone eras amid refreshing, pastoral surroundings. Afterwards, they will be driven back to their hotel in Rome.
