Private Tour: Queer Berlin Tour
This private tour explores a range of LGBTQIA+ community’s experiences throughout Germany’s history, from the wild days of the 1920s and the dark days of persecution under the Nazis through to the different experiences in East and West Berlin.
Sights and information on this tour includes hearing about the unlikely queer icon Frederick the Great, visiting Christopher Isherwood’s home, learning about the life of the openly gay Nazi (Ernst Röhm), exploring Café Eldorado (one of Berlin’s earliest gay and trans bars), strolling through Motzstrasse, visiting Prinz Eisenherz (Germany’s first queer bookshop), exploring Schöneberg (Berlin’s gay neighborhood), and visiting the Memorial to the Homosexual Victims of National Socialism and Nollendorfplatz and Memorial “Rosa Winkel”.
The meeting point is in front of Metropol at Nollendorfplatz or from a centrally located hotel (in which case guests might need a ticket for public transport, depending on the location of the hotel). This tour usually ends in Schöneberg.
