Guests will spend the morning discovering the magnificent Chateau de Versailles that once served as the French royal residence. Accompanied by a private guide who will share his knowledge and personalize the tour, this promises to be an intimate and enriching experience. From their hotel in Paris, guests will travel in a comfortable air-conditioned motorcoach to the magnificent city of Versailles where the palace is located. This sprawling UNESCO-listed palace complex was the home of French monarchs from 1682 until the French Revolution in 1789. With skip-the-line access at the palace, guests will head straight inside for their tour. They will view the opulent interiors of the palace as well as the Petit Trianon, the Grand Trianon, and Queen Marie Antoinette's estate. At the King's Grand Apartment, participants will see seven rooms done up in lavish Italian style, each with its own purpose. They will walk around the Hall of Mirrors where the historic Treaty of Versailles was signed to end WWI, before passing through the War Room and the ornate Queen's Grand Apartment. There are numerous other rooms worthy of exploration, such as the Hall of French History and the Hall of Battles. The guide will regale the participants with the history of the palace and stories about the royals who once lived there – from King Louis XVI to his wife Marie Antoinette. After admiring the palace's Baroque architecture, its exquisite art collection, and antique furniture, guests will buy tickets to explore the beautiful gardens on their own. The fountains, ponds, and colorful flower beds across this magnificent French formal garden are a wonderfully picturesque sight. Depending on the day of the week, participants may be able to view the musical fountain show as well. Afterwards, they will head back to Paris.
