Private Paris Discovery and Louvre Full Day Tour with Fully Licensed English Speaking Driver-Guide 9:00 AM
This private guided Paris Discovery tour will give you an overview of the most famous monuments and historical sites of the city.
After a brief introduction to the architecture of Paris, we will start the tour at the geographical center of Paris, the Opera Garnier, then drive to Place Vendome, the Palais Royal, before stopping at the Louvre where you will have a private, guided visit (usually 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes long) that will start in the basement of the original towers built 800 years ago. We will stop briefly at the Egyptian section before continuing on to the Greek section with Venus de Milo and Winged Victory, the Etruscan section, the Italian Renaissance section with Botticelli, Raphael, Giotto and Leonardo da Vinci, including the Mona Lisa, as well as, the sculpture section with some of Michelangelo’s work. We will finish with the French section, which includes David and Delacroix.
Next, there will be time for lunch in a typical French restaurant or bistro (not included in the price). Your guide can help you choose a place that will suit your tastes.
After lunch, you will continue along the Seine River to the Ile de la Cite, passed the Conciergerie, before making a stop at Notre Dame Cathedral for a guided tour. Next, you will continue by the Hotel de Ville (Town Hall) and the Ile St Louis, before arriving in the Marais District, which is one of the most interesting areas of the city. Here you will take a short walking tour with your guide. You will go along rue des Francs Bourgeois to Place des Vosges, the first royal square in Paris.
After this, you will cross the Seine River over to the Left Bank with the Latin Quarter, also known as the student quarter, Sorbonne University, the Pantheon, the Luxembourg Gardens, St Sulpice Church and the Saint Germain District, which has been home of many jazz musicians, writers and painters since the roaring twenties. We will continue passed the French Institute, the Orsay Museum (outside visit), the Concorde Square, the Champs Elysees, Napoleon’s Arc de Triomphe, the Grand Palais, the Invalides (outside visit) and the Eiffel Tower where we will stop for photos before continuing on to Montmartre, the village of artists such as Renoir, Picasso, Braque, Toulouse Lautrec, Gauguin and Van Gogh. It is also home to highest point in Paris and provides a stunning view. Your guide will take you on a short walking tour so you can take in the scenery of the area, with its cafes and shops and Sacre Coeur Basilica before driving you back to your hotel.
This tour is provided on a reserved basis prior to departure. Passengers must contact the local sightseeing company upon arrival to reconfirm their tour.
