Private Half Day Toledo with Cathedral Sightseeing Tour from Madrid
On this private tour, guests will meet their guide early and drive to the historic city of Toledo. Once Spain’s capital, this UNESCO World Heritage Site reflects a unique mix of Arab, Jewish and Christian influences in its architecture, which guests will discover on their walking tour. At the San Juan de los Reyes Monastery, guests will view the courtyard cloisters and royal coats of arms. Next, they will visit the Synagogue of Santa Maria la Blanca, a museum housed in the oldest standing synagogue in Europe. Built by Islamic architects in a Christian nation for Jewish worshippers in 1180, this synagogue has long symbolized the goodwill between all three religions. The last stop will be at the Toledo Cathedral. Built on the remains of an ancient mosque, it is one of the most important Gothic Cathedrals in Spain. Guests will witness the magnificent façade and the huge bell tower, then tour its lavish interiors including more than a dozen paintings by El Greco. Afterwards, they will drive back to Madrid.
