Private Half Day Naxos Island Tour
Set off from your hotel; the first stop is “Kouros of Melanes”, a 6mtr marble (6th c.BC), has broken during the process of sliding downhill in order to be shipped to Delos or Athens and was just left there, near the ancient quarry. Continue to Stavros for a photo-stop at a magnificent crossroad with a 360°view of East and West coasts of the island. From Stavros you will follow the road to the village of Apiranthos. Enjoy free time here to stroll on the “marble village”, visit museums or just enjoy a coffee with a breath-taking mountainous view. Nice little shops selling herbs and artifacts are also an attraction here. A lunch stop* in Apiranthos is programmed, the village is known for its local tavernas that offer excellent traditional dishes and locally made“raki” (Greek Grappa like drink).
The next stop is at Halki, the former capital of Naxos – a very beautiful village nowadays. Walk in the olive groves, visit Byzantine churches and have a taste of “kitron” at the 1896 distillery and as dessert the famous “Galaktoboureko” (a sweet milk pastry). From the village of Halki your next stop is at the Bazeos tower (alternative depending on open/close time is Adissarou springs) We visit the 16th c.
