Private Half Day Morning Tour of Giverny with Licensed English-Speaking Driver-Guide
On this private tour, guests will gain an understanding of the life and works of Impressionist painter Claude Monet. With their driver-guide, they will travel in comfort to the village of Giverny in northern France. Arriving at the charming commune, they will first see the local church, featured often in Monet’s works. At the graveyard, guests can pay respects at the tomb of the celebrated artist. They will then stop at Café Baudy, which has previously hosted American Impressionists such as James McNeill Whistler, Willard Metcalf, and Mary Cassatt. The barn behind the café once served as a studio for Monet’s illustrious friends, including Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Auguste Rodin, and Paul Cézanne. Using the side entrance, guests will step inside the Water Garden created by Monet on a piece of land adjacent to his property. There is also the Flower Garden with flowerbeds showcasing blooms of different heights arranged by color. In Monet’s house, they will get to see the living quarters, including the master’s bedroom and the kitchen. After winding up the tour in Monet’s last studio, used to paint the Water Lilies and now a gift shop, participants will drive back to Paris. Traveling along the Route des Crêtes, surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Seine Valley, guests will halt briefly at the village of Vétheuil, where Monet lived for three years.
