Private Full Day Santorini Villages, Akrotiri and Village of Oia Tour with Wine Tasting
Start from your hotel for a drive to Profitis Ilias, the highest point of the island with stunning views. A great photo opportunity and a chance to see the whole island from atop. Continuing to the traditional village of Megalochori for a Walking Tour. One of the most beautiful villages on the island with traditional Cycladic houses, neoclassic buildings and small cave houses which blend in harmony. Leaving Megalochori, the next stop is prehistoric Akrotiri – a Bronze Age settlement destroyed by a huge eruption in the 17th century BC, buried under the volcanic ash, preserving the whole city. It is often referred to as “Greek Pompeii”. Housed within a cool, protective structure, wooden walkways allow you to pass through various parts of the ancient city. Set off from Akrotiri to the famous Perivolos black sand beach. Enjoy a nice break for a quick swim. Our stop is two hours, when you can enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants on the beach (own expense). Your next stop is a wine tasting experience, where you'll have the chance to sample the distinct flavours of Santorini's local wines and delve into the fascinating methods of vine cultivation unique to the island. Continue to the wonderful village of Oia. Perched on the northern tip of the island, the most stunning spot in the Cyclades. Built on a steep slope of the caldera, many of its dwellings nestle in niches hewn into the volcanic rock. Enjoy the village and the setting; Oia is known for the most wonderful views and wonderful cafés and restaurants overviewing the volcanic caldera. After visiting Oia you will set off for the return to your hotel.
