Private Full Day Pompei and Amalfi Tour with Guide from Sorrento
On this private tour, guests explore the ancient ruins of Pompei and the glamorous town of Amalfi in Southern Italy. Setting out in the morning with their knowledgeable local guide, guests will first travel to Pompei, just a short distance from Sorrento. Upon reaching, they can explore the UNESCO-listed ancient city that was completely destroyed by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 and buried under layers of volcanic ash and pumice. Meticulous excavations have helped unearth baths, forums, and villas preserved by the volcanic lava over the centuries. After Pompeii, guests will head to the charming town of Amalfi, which is set against a backdrop of dramatic cliffs. The medieval Saint Andrew’s Cathedral in Amalfi, the iconic campanile or bell tower, and a 13th-century Capuchin convent are well worth a visit.
