This promises to be a memorable day spent discovering the lovely Cotswolds villages in England. Shipton-under-Wychwood, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Stow-on-the-Wold, and Broadway are known to be some of the country’s prettiest villages where all the houses, mills and pubs are built of Cotswold stone, a honey-coloured limestone. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, guests begin their tour with an exploration of these villages. This is followed up with a visit to the majestic Blenheim Palace, home of the Dukes of Marlborough and the birthplace of Winston Churchill. It was built as a reward for John Churchill for his victory over the French in 1704. The last stop on the tour is the historic university city of Oxford, dating back to the 11th century, where guests will view the charming medieval college buildings. Some of the finest University buildings are also built of Cotswold limestone, and a leisurely walk through this area makes for a lovely experience. At the end of the day, guests will return to their hotel with unforgettable memories of England’s countryside, history, and architecture.
