On this half-day tour, guests will embark on an inspiring journey to explore two of Spain’s most iconic landmarks. They will meet their guide in Madrid and board a comfortable bus for the ride. The first stop is the Royal Monastery of El Escorial, a 16th-century symbol of Spanish power, built to commemorate the Battle of St. Quentin. Here, participants will explore the Habsburg Palace, the Kings and Princes Mausoleum, the Chapter House, and the magnificent Basilica, with their guide sharing the rich history and architectural significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour then continues to the Valley of the Fallen, just 5.5 miles from El Escorial. This grand monument, built to honor those lost in the Spanish Civil War, features a towering 500-foot cross and a basilica carved into the mountain. Photography and filming are prohibited inside the exhibitions (Royal Monastery of El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen).
Guided commentary is not be available inside the Valley of the Fallen. However, the guide will provide information about the exhibition outside before you enter.
