This immersive day-long tour is a wonderful way to discover Amsterdam and the surrounding countryside and towns. Starting in the morning with a convenient pick-up from their centrally located hotel, guests will gain insights into the region’s rich history and culture throughout the day. If guests wish to visit any specific sights during the day, they can discuss this with their driver and guide who will personalize the day's itinerary accordingly. The tour starts with a panoramic journey across the city’s landmarks with their knowledgeable driver-guide offering historical facts and anecdotes about each. Participants will then travel north to picturesque rural areas along the edge of the river Zaan. The first stop is at the famous windmill village of De Zaanse Schans, home to relocated windmills and bright green wooden houses reminiscent of the 18th century. Guests will learn about the region’s industrial history with nearly 700 functional windmills, and visit a windmill that is still operational. Traveling across the picturesque Dutch countryside, guests will reach the lakeside town of Volendam to view fine examples of traditional Dutch architecture and colorful fishing boats. After a stroll around town, they will board a boat for a scenic 30-minute boat ride to the fishing village of Marken with its beautiful harbor and dyke. Later, they will be dropped back to their hotel or a pre-arranged location.
