Private Brittany and Mont St Michel 4-Day Tour with Licensed English-Speaking Driver-Guide
This private, multi-day adventure will take guests across the diverse landscapes of northwest and central France. Accompanied by a driver-guide, they will visit unique historic landmarks and take in breathtaking views of the changing scenery. On the first day, guests will drive to the UNESCO-listed Cathedral Notre-Dame de Chartres, a fine example of French Gothic art that is more than 800 years old. Next, they will enjoy a guided exploration of the impressive Chambord and Chateau de Blois, two of the Loire Valley’s finest chateaus. These excellent examples of French Renaissance architecture are surrounded by beautiful gardens worth exploring. Participants will then head to picturesque Rennes with its half-timbered houses and the magnificent cathedral. Also on the itinerary is the ancient walled port city of Saint-Malo, once a stronghold for privateers or pirates approved by the king.
On the second day, guests will explore the stunning medieval city of Dinan that perches high above the River Rame. An old riverfront harbor, the historic center of town, and the ramparts are some of the main attractions here. The exploration will continue at the 14th-century Fort la Latte, also known as the Castle of the Rock Goyon, featured in several movies. Driving on to Montmarin, guests will have the opportunity to visit the beautifully laid out gardens of Malouiniere du Montmarin, located on the banks of the river Rance.
On the third day of this tour, guests will start at the Abbaye de Beauport, a 13th-century abbey, tucked into a sheltered bay. They will then drive along the Pink Granite Coast, named for the rose-colored rocks along the shoreline. The last stop of the day will be at the Chateau de la Roche-Jagu, a beautiful 15th-century fortress overlooking the Trieux Valley.
The final day of the tour will be spent on the iconic island of Mont Saint Michel, set about half a mile off the coast. Its UNESCO-listed Gothic style Benedictine abbey is a pilgrimage shrine for Christians and makes for a breathtaking sight. Guests can savor lunch on the island at their own expense and then stroll along the narrow streets of the commune. Once the tour concludes, guests will be dropped off at their hotel or any other previously arranged location.
