Dublin in a Day: Book of Kells & Guinness Storehouse Private Tour
This full-day private guided tour explores Dublin’s picturesque, cobbled streets are renowned for their vibrant art, markets, cafes, pubs, and historic buildings. The city has been home to many famous historical figures, including literary icons like W.B. Yeats, Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift, Samuel Beckett, and James Joyce, as well as political and military leaders such as Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington.
Dublin’s rich history spans over 1,000 years, showcasing Viking and Norman influences, medieval churches, and the 13th-century Dublin Castle. Visitors learn about the Christian takeover of Celtic traditions and the long struggle for Irish independence while viewing historic sites like the parliament buildings.
A must-visit area is the Temple Bar neighborhood, known for its lively atmosphere with live music, buskers, and a bar serving over 450 types of whiskey. Another highlight is Trinity College, Ireland’s prestigious university, which houses the Book of Kells, an exquisite set of Gospels dating to circa 800 C.E. Note that external guides are not permitted to guide in Trinity College; visitors join a shared guided tour of the campus, Old Library, and the Book of Kells. Due to the Old Library Redevelopment Project, most books have been removed, but a digital journey through the library’s collections is available.
The tour includes visits to two of Dublin’s notable museums: the National Museum of Archaeology, featuring the famous Bog Man, a well-preserved Iron Age body, and the National Gallery, home to Caravaggio’s painting "The Taking of Christ." The day concludes with a taxi ride to the Guinness Storehouse for a self-guided tour of this iconic brewery. Here, visitors learn about Ireland’s most famous beer and enjoy panoramic views of the city while savoring a pint. Dublin offers a blend of historical insights, cultural experiences, and lively entertainment, making it a captivating destination for any visitor.

Additional Information:
Its a walking tour with medium difficulty and no transportation is included. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella or rain jacket in case of rain. Please note that the Museum of Archeology is not visited on tours departing on Sunday and Monday mornings. At those times, the time allocated to the Museum will be spent as you please, maybe extending your time in St Stephen's green or seeing more masterpieces inside the National Gallery.
