All Inclusive Erice and Marsala: Wine and Salt Smell
Guests can take a day out of their Sicilian adventure to escape the island capital on this full-day small group tour from Palermo with an expert guide. On the itinerary is the medieval hilltop town of Erice, a typical Sicilian lunch, a wine tasting, and a panoramic tour along Marsala’s Salt Route! Guests will depart from Palermo on a top-notch minivan with an expert driver and tour leader. The first stop is the medieval hilltop village of Erice. Guests will stroll through the narrow streets, find delightful little courtyards, and discover viewpoints where they can see out to the Egadi Islands and over the city of Trapani. Guests will feel like they are time traveling, surrounded by the ancient beauty of Erice and its surrounding environs. Of course, when in Sicily, it’s always a good time for a snack and in Erice guests will have the opportunity to try a local Sicilian granita. From here, guests get to savor a typical Sicilian lunch, along with a wine tasting of local blends, and the chance to savor the special taste of olive oil, a local product this area is very famous for. After leaving Erice, guests will carry on along the west coast of Sicily towards Marsala, a town famous for producing sweet wine and for the fascinating salt mills road, the so-called Saline. Passing though this captivating landscape, guests will marvel at the salt windmills and basins which are still in use today. This over 18-mile-long road is one of the most evocative routes in Italy, and if guests get out of their vehicle, they will be able to feel the salt in the air! At the end of this unique and fantastic experience, guests will return to Palermo.
