Athens
Discover the capital of Greece, where ancient history blends seamlessly with modern life. While the Acropolis towering over the cityscape is the star attraction, there is plenty more to Athens to discover. Archaeological sites such as the gigantic Hadrian's Gate and the ancient Agora are strewn across the city, alongside architectural monuments such as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which commemorates Greek troops killed in war. This is also the main center of learning in all of Greece, thanks to the Academy, Athens University, and the National Library, where archaeologists, historians, and scholars converge. Museums and attractions aside, Athens' hip neighborhoods are memorable too with their vibrant street art, artisanal boutiques, and cafes, and a thriving food and nightlife scene. The cobbled streets of Plaka lead straight up to the Acropolis, while Monastiraki Square offers the perfect spot for people-watching all day long. At Syntagma Square, visitors can witness the symbolic Changing of the Guards ceremony and then picnic in the vast botanical gardens next door. Visit Lycabettus Hill for panoramic views of this bustling metropolis, or escape with a day trip to nearby beaches, port towns, and the lush Attica peninsula.

Known for its stunning beaches, traditional villages, and vibrant nightlife, Paros offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. The island's capital, Parikia, is famed for its charming white-washed houses, narrow streets, and the historic Panagia Ekatontapiliani church, one of the oldest Byzantine churches in Greece. The island's interior is dotted with picturesque villages like Naoussa, Lefkes, and Marpissa, where visitors can explore traditional Cycladic architecture and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Paros is easily accessible by ferry from Athens and nearby islands, making it a convenient and attractive destination for travelers seeking a quintessential Greek island experience.

Santorini
The most popular of the Greek islands, crescent-shaped Santorini in the Cyclades charms visitors with its stunning landscapes and white-washed houses, framed by the sparkling blue waters of the Aegean Sea. At the heart of the island lies a partly-submerged caldera—the result of a volcanic eruption many centuries ago, flanked by dramatic cliffs with picturesque villages and vineyards perched on the cliffsides. Scenic villages such as Fira and Oia offer iconic blue-domed churches and narrow, winding streets with panoramic views around every corner. Framed against this backdrop are beaches such as Perissa and Kamari, in myriad shades of red, black, and white. Sunsets in Santorini, and especially Oia, are mesmerizing, with the evening sky blanketed in cotton candy pink and orange. The island also boasts one of the best food and nightlife scenes in the Cyclades, though less illustrious than its neighbor Mykonos, thanks to a plethora of restaurants spread across its cliffside villages and waterfronts.
Included activities
Oct 10, 2024: Set Sail for Santorini
Perhaps one of the most popular destinations in Greece, today we board a high-speed ferry and depart Paros for Santorini. Upon arrival, we'll drop our bags at the hotel and prepare for an afternoon tour and sunset excursion in the village of Oia. This Aegean coastal town is renown for its whitewashed buildings built into the rocky hilltops, overlooking an ancient caldera filled with water.
Oct 11, 2024: Soak in Santorini
That seawater filled caldera you've been admiring? Well, today we set sail on a private morning cruise atop this once-active volcano! Afterwards, we'll enjoy a BBQ lunch at a local restaurant. From here, you'll be able to explore Santorini at your leisure. Be sure to make this the day you buy any travel souvenirs for friends and family!
Oct 12, 2024: Savor the Final Day in Santorini
Today is the last full day of our advisor appreciation trip—and its packed full of activities! After breakfast at the hotel, get ready to explore the Akrotiri excavations on a guided tour. This ancient settlement is one of the best preserved in Greece and dates back to 3,000 B.C.E. After we've got our fill of history, prepare to fill your minds—and stomachs!—with a Greek cuisine cooking class followed by lunch. This afternoon isn't over! Once we've refueled with delicious Mediterranean fare, we'll head to Black Beach to explore and enjoy a final farewell dinner at a local restaurant and toast the incredible experience we've had on Europe Express's first annual advisor appreciation trip!
