Shared Tour: Absolute Venice Late Morning Walking Tour
Learn about Venice’s past as you walk through the historic streets of Venice. We will walk through Piazza San Marco, Campo Santa Maria Formosa, Campo SS Giovanni e Paolo and the Great School of Charity before viewing Marco Polo’s House and the Malibran Theater (no inside visits).
This tour includes a visit to Doge’s Palace (inside), which for centuries was the seat of Venetian political power. You’ll be surprised by the rich details of the gold staircase and of the realism of the scenes depicted by many artists who have decorated this building. You will relive the anguish of the prisoners crossing the famous Bridge of Sighs and entering the Venetian prisons, famous for hosting Giacomo Casanova.
Visit inside St Mark’s Cathedral, one of the most majestic cathedrals of the world. You will see the beautiful gold mosaics and marble inlays of the floors, while our guide relates the history of the basilica and shows you the represented biblical scenes.
