Monet’s property at Giverny, bequeathed to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1966, became the Claude Monet Foundation museum in 1980 after extensive restoration. The charming pink-brick house, where he lived from 1883 to 1926, maintains its colorful decor and intimate ambiance. Guests will admire his precious collection of Japanese engravings displayed as Monet intended. Nearby, the restored Nympheas studio houses the Foundation's shop. The gardens, meticulously replanted to their former glory, offer a stunning “painting from nature,” and lastly, the Water Garden lies further away, shaded by weeping willows. Featuring the famous Japanese Bridge and more, this enchanting space once again serves as the stunning backdrop of sky and water that inspired Monet's masterpieces.
