The Royal Wawel Hill with the Royal Wawel Cathedral and the Royal Wawel Castle – the Gothic Royal Castle was built on the remains of the 10th century settlement and extended in Renaissance style in the 16th century. Renaissance interiors contain numerous paintings, furniture and national memorabilia.
The Gothic Royal Cathedral contains reminders of the first, Romanesque cathedral, dating back to the 11th century. Cathedral is also a necropolis of Polish Kings, Dukes and noble citizens.
The Old Town: the Royal Route, the Old Town Market Square, the Cloth Hall, St Mary’s Church with famous 15th century wooden Witt Stwosz altar inside and Florianska Gate, resembling an open-air art gallery with numerous paintings and water-colors displayed for sale by local artists.
Walk across “Planty” – a belt of greenery, which replaced medieval defence walls.
