Private Tour: Jewish Life in Berlin
Guests are invited to join an expert guide on this private 3-hour walking tour of the old Jewish Quarter, which – despite the devastation of the Nazi era – is now home to a revitalized Jewish community. The guide will explain how this history is dealt with today and how the Jewish community is rebuilding itself. Guests will discover Berlin from a different perspective and get to see the old Jewish Quarter with its beautiful courtyards, the Hackesche Höfe, and stroll through some of Berlin’s oldest streets.
Sights and information covered on this tour includes the Site of the Old Berlin Synagogue, the Story of the Memorial to the Rosenstraße Protest, Hackesche Höfe courtyards, the Jewish Boys’ School, the Old Jewish Cemetery, Koppenplatz and the ‘Deserted Room’ Memorial, the Former Jewish Girls’ School, and the Kahal Adass Jisroel Synagogue and Community Centre, as well as the New Synagogue & Centrum Judaicum.
The meeting point is in front of Starbucks at Hackescher Markt or from a centrally located hotel (in which case guests might need a ticket for public transport, depending on the location of the hotel). This tour usually ends at the New Synagogue or nearby in the city center.
